LAFC, LAFC Foundation & Chevron Unveil New Futsal Court

Thursday November 30, 2023

The Los Angeles Football Club, the LAFC Foundation, and Chevron U.S.A. Inc. (Chevron) celebrated the official unveiling of a new futsal court at Chipman Junior High School in Bakersfield, California. This marks the third futsal court Chevron has completed in partnership with LAFC and the LAFC Foundation in Kern County, and the sixth court in total.

“We are proud of the positive impact LAFC, the LAFC Foundation, and our great partners at Chevron have accomplished together in the community,” said LAFC Co-President & CBO Larry Freedman. “The futsal courts are more than just a place to play. They provide young athletes and the greater community access to a safe space to come together and create connections through the world’s game. We look forward to continuing to work with Chevron to deliver more of these transformational spaces to communities throughout Southern California.”

The new futsal court enhances school options for physical fitness and free play programming during regular school hours and provides more after-school opportunities.

In addition to the outdoor futsal court, Chevron and the LAFC Foundation presented the school with a $10,000 donation and provided updated soccer equipment and supplies to further add to the student’s playing experience on the newly refurbished pitch.

“We are proud to partner with LAFC on the futsal refurbishment at Chipman Jr High  School,” said Jenny Macintosh, Soccer Program Manager at Chevron. “Our partnership with LAFC allows us to bring soccer to kids through a variety of programs throughout the year that support their growth both on and off the field.  We are excited to support the Bakersfield community and give local youth a safe and revitalized place to play soccer.”
