Kern County Students Discover Pathways at CTEC College & Career Expo

Thursday March 26, 2026

Hundreds of students from across Kern County came together today at the Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) for an exciting and interactive Career & STEM Expo, an event designed to spark curiosity and open doors to future opportunities.

With more than 100 employer exhibitors on site, students explored a wide range of careers through hands-on activities, live demonstrations, and engaging presentations. From walking through ambulances to connecting with local businesses and colleges, the experience brought real-world careers to life.

The event also featured high-energy entertainment, including a science-based magic show by special guest Joel Ward that left students amazed, along with vibrant Folklórico dance performances and student band showcases.

Student innovation was on full display as participants from the Small Business & Entrepreneurship program showcased their own businesses, sharing their journeys and selling products. Meanwhile, culinary students from ROC programs across the county served up fresh, delicious food, giving attendees a taste of their skills in action.

From petting dogs to exploring career pathways, the expo created a dynamic environment where students could discover their interests, engage with professionals, and imagine their futures before they graduate high school.
