Families will once again have the chance to build, create, code and explore as STEAM on the Streets returns to downtown Bakersfield later this month. The free family-friendly festival will take place Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The STEAM Yard, 2020 K Street. The annual event invites learners of all ages to experience Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics through hands-on activities and creative challenges.

Now in its third year, STEAM on the Streets is designed to make STEAM learning approachable and fun while giving families an opportunity to explore together.
This year’s activities will include art stations, coding, engineering design projects and other STEAM-infused experiences with playful twists. Free giveaways will also be available throughout the morning.
The event returns to The STEAM Yard for the second consecutive year after moving there in 2025. The downtown learning space has become a hub for hands-on STEAM education, offering students opportunities to explore everything from robotics and coding to 3D design, virtual reality and engineering.
“STEAM is really about curiosity and giving yourself permission to experiment,” said Jamie Viveros, Senior Director of STEAM and Expanded Learning at KCSOS. “We want families to come out, try something they may have never tried before and discover together. If a child leaves excited to keep creating, building or asking questions, then we’ve accomplished what we set out to do.”
That spirit of exploration will again spill throughout the facility as families move from station to station, trying new activities and discovering how STEAM concepts connect to the world around them.
STEAM on the Streets is free, but families are encouraged to RSVP in advance at RSVP Link.
